Green and Blue cake smash photoshoot
Ledo's Green and Blue cake smash celebration photos
A great way to celebrate any birthday is most definitely with a cake smash photoshoot. For boys, One of the best colour options is to go for a green and blue cake smash. The solid colours work really well and stand out from the background in the studio nicely. In this case Mum and dad also brought along a few other items to decorate the studio background with and really make this a special event. Ledo was very suspicious of this idea however and definitely took some convincing that smashing a cake is actually a good thing in this instance. But we did get some great photos in the end. Its important to be patient while they discover this new delight, as pushing their hands into the cake can often lead to a very tearful cake smash. But waiting for them to discover the cake all on their own , you will be amazed how quickly they can get themselves happily covered in cake. If the decor has not distracted them completely.
Cake smash decor tips
Considering the decor for your cake smash photoshoot is a big part of this milestone photo session. So here are some tips to help you get this right. Firstly balloons are a cheaper and easy way to get a lot of colour into your photos. Choose darker more solid colours for the balloons so that they stand out well against the white studio background. Remember as you blow up balloons the colour will become lighter. So if you choose slightly darker than the shade you were looking for this should work out well. Also choose a colour string or ribbon that goes with the decor or stick to white. Clashing colours can be very distracting in the photos. Finally remember to fill the balloons with helium so that they float in the background rather than lie on the floor.
The other decor you choose you really dont need to go overboard with. Less is more is the general rule of thumb and it definitely does apply here. A birthday banner or some paper fans can be added but not much more than that.
For the cake it will obviously need to suit the colours and theme of the decor. But to really get those messy cake smash photos its best to choose a soft icing that is easy to sink little fingers into . They will most likely find this nicer to eat as well.
Covered in green and blue cake
Ledo did get covered in green and blue cake. As did mum and dad because he refused to do the smashing all on his own so they had to be involved. This is something else you should prepare yourself for. Cake does tend to end up everywhere. And I can almost guarantee that the more covered in cake your child gets the more they will want you to pick them up. So its best to bring along a change of clothes for each of you. So as I say go with the flow – if your kid wants you involved in the shoot then be prepared to get your hands dirty.
