Advantages of a Cake Smash and Splash Combo photoshoot

One of the more obvious advantages of a cake smash and splash combo photoshoot is that you save costs on combining photoshoots. Although this is still a two hour photoshoot, the price is less because it is a combined photoshoot. You can also  use almost the same decor such as balloons filled with helium for both the cake smash and splash so you do not have to buy these things twice – this is a significant cost saving of around 200 rand at least.

It is difficult to know how your child will react to either a cake smash or splash. Generally children who enjoy getting their hands dirty and eating will enjoy a cake smash . But some kids really end up not enjoying this and the photoshoot can end in a lot of tears with very few smiling faces full of cake that you envisioned. The advantage of combining the splash is that most children will either like one or the other of these two. Those who really don’t enjoy the cake smash might have a lot of fun in the bubble bath part of the session. So you will still get some great smiles and not feel like you have wasted your money. This was definitely the case with Thoriso who you see in the photos above. Although he enjoyed the cake, he did not really smash it. But when we put him in the bubble bath we got lots of smiles and splashes.

Another great advantage of the cake smash and splash combo photoshoot is that you will get more variety from your final photos. By the end of the shoot you will have family photos , cake smash photos and bubble bath photos. Altogether it gives a well rounded story and memory that you can look back on later in life.

A cake smash is a really messy affair . Cake tends to get everywhere . Not only does it end up all over your child it also ends up all over you , the studio and most of the stuff you bring with you. The advantage of having a bubble bath after the cake smash means we at least clean up your child for you in a fun way and get some great photos out of it. Its always a good idea to bring a change of clothes for yourself though and a spare bag for all the clothes that get covered in cake.
