Best johannesburg wedding venues for photos
Some of my favourite Johannesburg wedding venues for photography
One of the first things you should look for when you are getting married is your wedding venue. Without the venue, you don’t have a set date, and it’s difficult to plan and visualise your special day. But there are so many out there it can be a little overwhelming to choose. Here are some, in my opinion, of the best Johannesburg wedding venues for photography purposes. There is a lot more to consider when choosing a venue, but the photographs are what lasts after your wedding so are quite an important factor.
Morrells Boutique Venue
Morrells Boutique Venue is one of my favourite johannesburg wedidng venues because it has so much character its difficult to know where to start. It definitely gives an Alice in Wonderland vibe with rabbits and top hats all round. There are also great features like a grand piano you can get interesting photos with. But one of my favourite characteristics is the ivy-clad walls which are great for photo backgrounds. there is also an olive garden and plenty of lavender. As well as different levels you can shoot from above and below.

Mount Usambara wedding Venue
Mount Usambara definitely has amazing views and this is the main attraction. However, on the other side of the venue, the sun sets over the road and can also make some great images. The large function hall is simply massive and creates a feeling of space with its high ceilings. The smaller venue is hung entirely with fairy lights giving it a warm and charming feel.

Très Jolie
Très Jolie Venue lives up to its French name of ‘very pretty’ and the gardens have much to offer in the form of fountains and walkways to take amazing photos at. The chapel is definitely the stand out feature of this venue though and is magic to photograph in. There is also a field at the back of the venue to give some variety in your photos.

Oakfield Farm
One of my favourite features at Oakfield Farm is the horse and carriage option to arrive at the church in. You can have photos afterwards with this as well. But the venue has many beautiful spots to take photos at from rose gardens to open fields. There are several venues on the property but the staff are professional and will make sure your day runs smoothly. No wonder it is one of the most popular johannesburg wedding venues out there. 🙂

Thaba Eco Hotel
Thaba Eco Hotel is situated on the south side of Johannesburg just outside the city. It also has several venues to choose from and is a large venue but they will help you get around it for photos. It has a nice balance of structures and nature for photos. My favourite feature here is this spiral staircase, but it’s a hard choice between this and the magnificent view you get which coupled with a great African sunset can give you amazing wedding photographs.
