Here is the photoshoot I did with my one year old girl for easter last year with these easter accessories, so you can see the results.
Easter photoshoot accessories used in these photos
First off, here are the easter photoshoot accessories I used for this photoshoot – They are things you likely already have at home or will really not cost a lot to buy.
Easter photoshoot ideas for toddlers – Accessories and Props
- Bunny ears are almost essential for an easter photoshoot and are very easy to come by around easter time of year. I have these bunny ears in my prop suitcase so it was very easy to use, but there are many alternatives if you dont want to buy too much – You can make your own bunny ears Or you can go for a cheap solution like these from Temu
- A bunny onesie – If you have a toddler then you probably already have a onesie in your arsenal – Any furry fluffy onesie can be used to create the effect, If you want it in your photos. You could go all out and buy one like this – then the ears are already taken care of as well, But if you have one already it can save you some bucks. Or if you do your easter photoshoot with Renphotos, you can use the outfit we have 🙂
- Small kaylite or plastic eggs – these are some fun ones we got at a place called My china in Benoni, but there are plenty of places you can get such easter accessories. here in the netherlands you can try action or online options are also available for easter props for photography.
- A small wicker basket with a handle, filled with the easter eggs above, is a great easter photography prop for easter photoshoot ideas for toddlers because you can use it in several ways – as decoration in a photo, or as a distraction, asking your toddler to put the easter eggs in it or take them out, Or asking them to carry the basket of easter eggs.
- If your toddler has a bunny cuddly toy this is also a great easter accessory to add to the collection.
Easter photoshoot ideas for toddlers
Now that you have all the props and easter outfit together here are some easter photoshoot ideas for toddlers you can try out with them.
- Do an easter egg hunt for your toddler . This is one of my favourites – Hide some of the easter eggs prior to your photoshoot in the area you willdo the photoshoot, and ask your toddler to find them. make it interesting by putting eggs inside things or behind things they need to look for. Be ready to capture the look of excitement on their faces when they find the egg, and triumph as they proudly put it in the basket.
- If you are making DIY ears this is another great family moment to capture – If you are using a professional photographer then try to capture this in your easter photoshoot – You can do most of the work before the actual photoshoot but get the photographer to capture the final moments of you and your daughter or son making the headband and finally putting them on. TIP make sure your toddler is already dressed for the photoshoot beforehand, as they can then continue straight on to the easter photoshoot.
- Putting all your (easter) eggs in one basket and taking them all out again is a great game for a toddler and a nice distraction during a photoshoot. You can ask them tocount how many they are putting in or taking out, or all the blue ones, or the yellow ones for instance. Some of the ones I bought also had a little stick to put into the ground which proved to be very fun for this little girl.
- If you are brave enough then definitely do at least one chocolate easter egg – but give it to them wrapped so they can unwrap it and discover the chocolate inside. Marshmallow eggs also work quite well for this – the idea is to catch the chocolate smeared faces – so let them get all dirty and busy with it. Just be prepared for the clean up and the sugar high afterwards… or try these sugar free peanut butter easter eggs – yum!
preparing your easter photoshoot ideas for toddlers
Now that you have all the easter photoshoot ideas for toddlers and the easter outfits and accessories and props, its time to plan your easter photoshoot! Thats easier said than done with a toddler however, so here are a few tips to remember when doing your easter photoshoot with a toddler.

- Less is more – they are fascinated with everything , but introducing too much at one time can be a little overwhelming – rather do one thing at a time and then exchange for another prop once they get tired of that one.
- be prepared for a short photoshoot- 20-30 minutes is generally the amount of time they will allow if you are lucky, before they start crying or wanting to do something else.
- You can try and lengthen the time by taking photos in different places or changing the activities, or if you have all the time in the world, then leave the shoot area for a while then come back to it a bit later again.
- Things will not go according to plan – they hardly ever do with a toddler- so my best advice is to embrace the chaos and go with it – the magic really happens in the unplanned moments and the things you did not foresee.
